Creating a Project
Quick Workflow
- Open the Projects view (📁 icon).
- Click New Project on the toolbar, or press
Ctrl+N. - Fill the minimum fields: Name, Currency, Tax Rate.
- Optionally choose a Client, Folder, and Template.
- Click Create — TX1 opens the new project in the Direct Costs view.
Starting Options
TX1 supports four starting points:
| Option | Result |
|---|---|
| Blank | Empty project; you build everything from scratch. |
| From Template | TX1 applies an ItemTemplate — line items and (optionally) embedded resources. |
| Duplicate Existing | Full copy of an existing project; SourceProjectId records the source. |
| Import .tx1 / JSON | Restore a previously exported project package. See section 13. |
What Gets Created
When you press Create, TX1 inserts:
- A
Projectrow. - An associated
ProjectMarkuprow with zero markup defaults. - An empty item grid (no direct costs, no overheads).
- A default code set if your organisation has one.
- Per-user default sell-rate view configuration.

Tip: Templates vs Duplicate
- Use a template when you want to reapply a structure (common trades, standard preliminaries).
- Duplicate a project when you want a price to start from (e.g. "last tender for this client").
