Text and Callouts
Text and Callout tools place formatted labels on the canvas. Both use the same text-input panel above the canvas in MainWindow (or inside AnnotationWindow).
Tools
| Tool | Shape | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Text | Free-floating label | No background; just the styled characters |
| Callout | Text inside a speech-bubble shape | Bubble colour follows the active colour; text colour is drawn over the fill |
Text-Input Panel
When either tool is selected, a secondary panel appears with:
| Control | Options |
|---|---|
| Font family | Segoe UI, Arial, Calibri, Consolas, Georgia, Tahoma, Times New Roman, Verdana |
| Font size | 10 – 48 pt |
| Bold | Toggle |
| Italic | Toggle |
| Underline | Toggle |
| Text box | Your label content |
Placing Text
- Select Text or Callout from the annotation toolbar.
- Type the label content in the text box.
- Choose font, size, and formatting toggles.
- Click on the canvas at the position where the label should sit.
The click point anchors the top-left of the text (or the bubble tail for Callout). To reposition, undo the placement and click again.
Callouts
Callout wraps the text in a speech-bubble shape. The bubble auto-sizes to the text content plus a small padding. Use Callout when you want the text to stand out against a busy screenshot background; use Text when the screenshot background is already plain.
Tip — Consolas at 12 pt is a good choice for labelling code or log output — the monospaced glyphs line up under the characters they describe.
Setting — Text colour follows the active colour swatch, not a separate text colour. Pick your colour before placing the text.
