Insert, Delete and Reorder Pages
All page operations are on the Pages menu or the thumbnail right-click context menu.
Insert Pages
Insert Blank Page
Pages → Insert Blank Page (or thumbnail right-click → Insert Blank Page).
A blank page is inserted after the currently selected page (or at the end if nothing is selected). Dimensions match the current page.
A dialog asks for:
- Page size (A4, A3, Letter, Legal, Custom).
- Orientation (Portrait / Landscape).
- Position (Before / After selected).
- Count (how many blank pages to insert).
Import Pages from Another PDF
Pages → Import Pages…
- Pick a source PDF.
- Select which pages to import (all / range / specific).
- Choose insert position.
- OK. Pages are copied into your document.
Annotations on the source pages are imported too.
Delete Pages
Delete Selected
- Select one or more page thumbnails.
- Press
Deleteor Pages → Delete Page(s) or right-click → Delete. - Confirm.
The remaining pages are renumbered. Deletion is undoable (Ctrl+Z) within the session.
Warning — Once you save and reopen the document, deleted pages cannot be recovered. Keep a backup if uncertain.
Reorder Pages
Drag and Drop
- Grab a thumbnail.
- Drag to its new position.
- Release.
The insertion indicator (blue line) shows where the page will land.
Move Up / Down
- Pages → Move → Move Up (
Alt+↑). - Pages → Move → Move Down (
Alt+↓).
These move the selected thumbnail(s) by one position.
Multi-Select Reorder
Select several thumbnails (Shift+Click / Ctrl+Click), then drag the selection as a group. All selected pages maintain their relative order.
Duplicate Pages
Pages → Duplicate Page(s) (Ctrl+D on a thumbnail).
The duplicate is inserted immediately after the original. Annotations are copied too.
Cut / Copy / Paste Pages
Treat pages like document-level clipboard items:
| Action | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Cut page(s) | Ctrl+X |
| Copy page(s) | Ctrl+C |
| Paste page(s) | Ctrl+V |
Paste inserts at the current page position (or at end). Cross-document paste works — cut in one tab, switch tab, paste.
Extract Pages
Pages → Export Page(s)… saves selected pages as a new PDF without modifying the current document.
- Select pages.
- Pages → Export Page(s).
- Choose destination and filename.
- Save.
Page Numbering
Page numbers shown in thumbnails and the status bar are physical page order (1, 2, 3…). If the PDF has printed page labels (e.g. Roman numerals for front matter), the label can optionally be displayed alongside — configured in Settings → Display → Show Page Labels.
Undo
Every insert / delete / reorder operation is one undo entry. Ctrl+Z restores the previous state.
Large Documents
For documents with over 500 pages:
- Thumbnail rendering is lazy — only visible thumbnails render first.
- Multi-select of all pages is possible but may briefly block the UI.
- Reorder operations on 100+ pages may take a few seconds — Spark shows a progress indicator.
Tips
Tip — To reverse a whole document's page order, select all (Ctrl+A on thumbnails) → right-click → Reverse Order (where available). Useful for books scanned back-to-front.
